Privacy policy

In short: famenia sets no cookies and does not know who you are unless you write to us. The only thing measured is an anonymous, cookieless visitor count, explained right below.

Visiting the site

When you visit, our host (Hostinger International Ltd., Cyprus, data centre in the European Union) processes technically necessary data: IP address, time, page requested, browser. This data is kept in server logs and deleted after 14 days at the latest. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in the secure operation of the site (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). A data processing agreement is in place with the hosting provider.

No cookies, no third-party content

famenia sets no cookies and uses no advertising or social media services. Apart from the visitor count described above, there is no analytics. Fonts, images and videos are stored on our own server. While you read, no connection is made to Google, Meta, TikTok or other third parties.

Tools, quiz and the 50

All tools run entirely in your browser. Your input is not sent to us. So that you find your settings, your crest and your ticked experiences again on your next visit, the browser stores them locally (Local Storage) on your device. This is not a cookie, we have no access to it, and you can delete the data at any time in your browser settings.

Sharing

The share buttons are plain links. Only when you click WhatsApp, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Pinterest or Telegram does the respective service open with the text and the link, and its own privacy rules then apply. Result pictures are drawn in your browser and downloaded directly to your device.

Poll

If you take part in the poll, your vote is stored anonymously on our server as a count per answer, together with a shortened, salted hash of your IP address that prevents double voting for one month and cannot be traced back to you.

Contact and newsletter

The contact form and the newsletter sign-up come from formdialog.com, the form service of NexTao GmbH. It runs on its own server at Hostinger in Frankfurt am Main, sets no cookies and loads nothing from third parties. With the form it learns on which famenia page it is shown.

If you write to us via the contact form, we process the details you provide (name, e-mail address, subject, message) in order to answer your enquiry (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR). The message is delivered to our editorial team by e-mail, stored in the form service and deleted once it is no longer needed. To fend off abuse, the IP address of every submission is kept for 14 days (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).

The newsletter uses double opt-in: after signing up you receive an e-mail with a confirmation link, and only the click on it subscribes you. Unconfirmed sign-ups are deleted after 30 days. As proof of your consent we store the time and IP address of the sign-up and of the confirmation. Your e-mail address stays on our list until you unsubscribe, which is possible via a link in every issue (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR). We do not pass data on to third parties.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. Write to info@famenia.com at any time. You may also complain to a data protection supervisory authority; the one responsible for us is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia.
