The three jars
One euro a week per year of age is the classic rule. What matters more is the split: spend, save, give.
Usually less. Money that arrives without limit teaches nothing. A modest allowance with real responsibility for it (clothes, phone, presents for friends) teaches more than a large one that covers nothing.
Not for the basics. Pay for real extra work, at a rate a stranger would pay, and let the child negotiate it.
