Institut auf dem Rosenberg
Individual curricula, a Mars habitat on campus, robotics and the highest fees in the world of boarding.
The character
Rosenberg calls its pupils artisans of life and means it: timetables are built around each child, class sizes are tiny, and the programme mixes traditional exams with design, coding and public speaking. It is the school for families who find the old English model quaint and want something that feels like a start-up with a chapel. Expect uniforms, formal dinners and a very high level of care.
Good for
Ambitious families, children with a strong individual talent, technology, several school-leaving certificates in one place
Less suited to
Families who want a large peer group, budgets below 160,000 francs, children who need anonymity
Getting in
Interview in St. Gallen or online, previous reports, an assessment day. Places are limited by design; apply a year ahead.
What it costs in total
At about CHF 160,000 a year for boarding, the 5 years from 13 to 18 add up to roughly €941,000 in today’s money including typical extras, before fee increases, tutoring and flights. The Education Cost Calculator adds inflation, extras and a second child.
Fees are rounded 2025/26 figures from the school’s own schedule and change every year. The school’s current fee sheet prevails. The picture is an impression of the setting, not a photograph of the campus.
