Impression of the setting of Leysin American School

Switzerland · Leysin · Founded 1960

Leysin American School

The American way in the Alps: AP and IB, a university counselling office of American standard and skiing twice a week all winter.

The character

LAS is relaxed, friendly and very good at getting pupils into American universities. Classes are small, the campus is a village of old belle-époque hotels, and the school takes the whole pupil body skiing on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from December to March. Families who want an American diploma with European polish look here first.

Good for

US university ambitions, families moving between continents, skiers

Less suited to

Families who want the British system, very academic children who want the toughest peer group

Getting in

Rolling admissions, online interview, reports, English proficiency. Grade 9 is the main entry point.

What it costs in total

At about CHF 115,000 a year for boarding, the 5 years from 13 to 18 add up to roughly €678,000 in today’s money including typical extras, before fee increases, tutoring and flights. The Education Cost Calculator adds inflation, extras and a second child.

Fees are rounded 2025/26 figures from the school’s own schedule and change every year. The school’s current fee sheet prevails. The picture is an impression of the setting, not a photograph of the campus.
