Schloss Neubeuern
A castle school with an all-digital classroom model, small classes, the Bavarian Abitur and the Alps on the doorstep.
The character
Neubeuern is Bavaria's answer to Salem: smaller, more intimate and pioneering in digital teaching, in a castle where every pupil is known by name. The Bavarian Abitur is demanding, the skiing and hiking are minutes away, and the school is popular with families from Munich and Austria who want boarding within an hour of home.
Good for
Families in Munich and Austria, children who need a small school, skiers
Less suited to
Families who want an international certificate
Getting in
Reports, trial stay and interview; entry possible in most years from grade 5.
What it costs in total
At about € 42,000 a year for boarding, the 6 years from 13 to 19 add up to roughly €282,000 in today’s money including typical extras, before fee increases, tutoring and flights. The Education Cost Calculator adds inflation, extras and a second child.
Fees are rounded 2025/26 figures from the school’s own schedule and change every year. The school’s current fee sheet prevails. The picture is an impression of the setting, not a photograph of the campus.
