Sevenoaks School
The IB pioneer of Britain, consistently the best IB results in the country and a striking performing arts centre.
The character
Sevenoaks abandoned A-levels for the IB in 2006 and has never looked back: results are the highest in the country, the pupil body is international and co-educational, and the school sits on the edge of one of the great deer parks of England. Boarders are a third of the school, which gives it a day-school energy with a boarding backbone.
Good for
The IB, co-education, families near London who want boarding options
Less suited to
A-level specialists, full-boarding purists
Getting in
Entry at 11, 13 and 16; the 16-plus IB entry is large and international. Register a year ahead, assessments and interviews.
What it costs in total
At about £ 58,000 a year for boarding (£ 34,000 for day pupils), the 5 years from 13 to 18 add up to roughly €381,000 in today’s money including typical extras, before fee increases, tutoring and flights. The Education Cost Calculator adds inflation, extras and a second child.
Fees are rounded 2025/26 figures from the school’s own schedule and change every year. The school’s current fee sheet prevails. The picture is an impression of the setting, not a photograph of the campus.
